TRAINING FOR WELLBEING
CODE: 11 PTW
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: An enthusiastic and engaged participant in junior PE.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Create and participate in your own physical training programme.
Learn about methods & principles of training and apply this knowledge to achieve your athletic goals.
Build on prior knowledge of biophysical principles (anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology).
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: PE uniform required + $20. Includes online access to My Study Series and a potential day trip to the gym.
NEXT STEP: 2PTW, plus other Level 2 PE courses.
TEAM CHALLENGE
CODE: 11PTC
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: An enthusiastic and engaged participant in junior PE.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Learn and develop interpersonal and leadership skills through a sports education model with a strong focus on Ngā Taonga Tākaro.
Strong emphasis on practical lessons (3x per week) and team-based activities.
Participate in a team draft, preseason training, tournament and finals. Experience a snapshot of life as a professional athlete. All players will have a role within their franchise e.g. GM or Scout. Teams will need to be under a salary cap, with player trading allowed.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: PE Uniform Required + $7. Includes access to My Study Series

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
CODE: 11POE
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: An enthusiastic and engaged participant in junior PE.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Explore who you are, your connection with the taiao, our local rohe developing an understanding of the history and the significance of the places around us.
Experience how participation in the taiao can enhance our well-being.
Develop a variety of different outdoor skills such as creating shelters, outdoor cooking, knot tying and basic navigation skills as well as how to work effectively and build connections with each other.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: PE Uniform Required. $7 Access to My Study Series. Contribution to a planned outdoor physical activity opportunity ($200 -300).

HEALTH EDUCATION
CODE: 11PHE
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: An enthusiastic and engaged participant in junior Health.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Demonstrate an understanding of a decision-making process in a health-related situation. This could include mental health, relationships or sexuality.
Use a model of health to explore the perspective of a person, or group of people and the impact of an activity on well-being.
Build on prior knowledge of complex health topics covered in junior Health such as drugs/alcohol and sexuality education.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: $7 Access to My Study Series (online Health education resource).
NEXT STEP: Introduction to sectors such as health promotion and community services.
