TRAINING FOR WELLBEING
NCEA Level 2 CODE: 2PTW
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Open entry. Strongly recommended that you have taken 1PEX course in 2023.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Use knowledge of methods and principles of training to create a personalised training programme for a classmate.
Learn about how physical training can be used to enhance all aspects of someone's Hauora.
Participate actively in a physical training programme designed specifically to achieve your goals.
2 theory lessons + 2 practical lessons per week.
ASSESSMENT: 2x Level 2 Achievement Standards worth 9 credits, internally assessed. Potential for 4 additional credits through physical event e.g. Tough Guy/Girl.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: PE Uniform Required, $7 Access to My Study Series (online physical education resource). Potential event entry cost.

TEAM CHALLENGE

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Open entry. Recommended that you have taken 1PEX course in 2023.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Develop your social responsibility, leadership and interpersonal skills.
This course has a strong emphasis on physical movement, participating in a large variety of physical contexts and sports.
Participate in an assessed practical standard, chosen by the class.
1 theory lesson + 3 practical lessons per week.
ASSESSMENT: 3x Level 2 Achievement Standards worth a total of 11 credits, all internally assessed.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: PE Uniform Required, $7 Access to My Study Series (online physical education resource).

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
NCEA Level 2 CODE: 2POE
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Open entry. A willingness to move and explore the outdoors.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Learn how to plan an outdoor experience for a group of people.
Understand the risks associated with exploring nature and develop skills required to minimise these, while enhancing your enjoyment.
Develop an understanding of our place (Newlands / Te Whanganui-a-Tara). A willingness to participate in the planned, overnight outdoor trip is an essential part of the course.
2 theory lessons + 2 practical lessons per week.
ASSESSMENT: 2x Level 2 Achievement Standards worth a total of 7 credits, all internally assessed.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION: PE Uniform Required, $7 Access to My Study Series (online physical education resource). Contribution to a planned outdoor physical activity opportunity ($100 - $300).
