University Entrance
How do I gain University Entrance?
To gain University Entrance students must have:
Achieved NCEA Level 3
60 credits at Level 3.
14 credits in each of three subjects from the list of approved subjects below.
The remaining credits to achieve NCEA Level 3 can come from either achievement or unit standards.
UE numeracy
10 credits at Level 1 or higher from specified achievement standards, OR
Passed all three specific Numeracy unit standards, OR
Passed the Numeracy co-requisite Common Assessment Activity
UE literacy
10 credits (five in reading and five in writing) from:
specific Level 2 or Level 3 achievement standards, or specific Te Reo Māori and Te Reo Rangatira Level 2 standards (for detailed information click here), OR
two specific Level 4 English for Academic Purposes unit standards, OR
an academic literacy common assessment tool (CAT) at Level 3 (no credit value, run by NZQA).

Note:
The Wellington Trades Academy is part of WelTec and allows students to remain on the roll of the secondary school, while studying for pre-trade certificates at WelTec. Students also are able to complete their Level 2 literacy and numeracy requirements at the same time.
Pre-trade course places are also available at WelTec and Whitireia Polytechnic at the beginning of each academic year. These function under the Youth Guarantee Scheme. Please see the school Careers Adviser for more information.
