Some of you may know that Muslims around the world celebrated Eid recently after a month of fasting. As part of tradition, elders tend to give young children a small amount of money which some cultures call 'Eidhi'. This can be anything from £5-£50. What's really nice about this is that the children are usually encouraged to spend a little, save a little and to donate some to charity. Essentially, this is what Muslims are also encouraged to do, although this certainly doesn't happen at Eid. It's like being broke after Christmas! I was thinking that it would be useful to mention this in schools where you know young people may be fasting, nicely links in with the budgeting and saving elements of our programmes. Lastly, Eid Mubarak/ Happy Eid to all :)
