The crisis in Ukraine began in November 2013 when pro-Moscow President Viktor Yanukovych's government abandoned a deal with the European Union in favor of stronger ties with Russia. The BBC takes a look at the timeline of the crisis and breaks it down using maps to help understand this on-going conflict.

As a class you will watch the film "Putin's Way" This 55 minutes PBS film provides an interesting perspective on Russian politics that I would like you to connect to the issues affecting and inciting Ukraine's crisis.
