For this Assignment You Will:
Conduct and record an interview with someone about their experiences, memories and beliefs about the events of 9/11/01.
Interviews can be done on a video recording or in the form of written notes from an interview.
Videos:
should be edited - no full length interviews should be turned in.
edited videos be no more than 15 minutes.
Written Interviews:
Should be a summary of the conversation not a transcript of the entire conversation.
Summaries should be no longer than 3 single spaced typed pages.
All material should be typed.
Interview Subject Should:
Be at least 15 years old on Sept. 11th 2001.
Agree to be interviewed.
Provide basic biographical information about themselves.
Be willing to share details and responses to the events of 9/11/01 (don't pick a person to interview who is really shy or doesn't have a good memory of the events.
Interview Questions Should:
Focus on 9/11 and its aftermath
Help the interview subject recall and tell their story
Be open-eneded (avoid yes/no questions)
Be conversational - be prepared to ask follow-up questions based on the responses you get.
Help gain an understanding of what the subject remembers about the events of 9/11 but also what they remember happened as a consequence of those events.
Encourage your subject to go deeply and not just "scrape the surface" of the issues that arise in your conversation.
Be respectful of your subjects feelings, experiences and time.
