Two days ago the New York times received information through sources they are calling " internal Whitehouse and Kremlin sources close to Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump". These informants have allegedly provided evidence to the Times of Russian interference in the 2016 US Presidential election. In today's edition of the paper, the Times released this information along with the details provided by these sources. The Times initially refused to release the names of either of these sources - citing the first Amendment protection of freedom of the press and their right to keep their sources confidential.
The evidence claimed by the Times is as follows:
Vladimir Putin and his aids broke into and bugged the offices of the Democratic National Committee and stole details about their political campaign in 2016
Russian spies - directed by the Kremlin embedded themselves into the Clinton campaign and used espionage, theft and other illegal methods to steal and transmit information about the Clintons and their campaign to the Trump campaign.
Russian military intelligence was used to create false news stories and post them on websites including information from stolen e-mails from Clinton and her top aids.
Trump made private phone calls with Russian officials throughout the 2016 campaign. One of these calls was secretly recorded by one of the Kremlin informants who has turned over the transcript to the Times. During this phone call Trump was releasing private information about Hillary Clinton.
Trump and his campaign staff made frequent secret visits with Russian officials during before and during his campaign, increasing the suspicion.
The Whitehouse and Kremlin initially denied all elements of the Times story. However, in the last two hours the following events have unfolded.
The recording of the phone conversation was released on the Times Website.
President Trump went on national Television and admitted to his role in the phone conversation. Trump claimed that he was being extorted by the Russians over a $12 million rel-estate debt. Trump went on to say that in his defense he would be releasing details of the extortion as well as Putin's use of Kremlin money and officials to commit illegal acts with could and Trump claimed. "Will bring Putin and his whole corrupt government down, once and for all. I promise you."
45 minutes ago on his way back to the Whitehouse, Trumps vehicle was shot at by a passing vehicle. The shooters have been aprehended by police but have apparently committed suicide before they could be taken into custody. Initial reports suggest that these individuals may be Russian operatives in the US on a mission to kill the President and silence him.
Reports have come in in the last 30 minutes that at the same time of the attack on the President, a Russian operative as well as five members of the Trump campaign team were found dead in their homes. Each of the deaths appears to by from gunshot wounds. Each of these individuals is believed to be tied to the Times story. The New York Times has indicated that two of the dead men were informants used in their report.
