Choose an INTERNATIONAL CURRENT EVENT
international current events are any events that have a significant connection to events or issues in countries other than the US.
international current events can involve the US and US foreign policy, however avoid stories that are specifically about issues exclusive to the US.
Examples of acceptable INTERNATIONAL CURRENT EVENTS:
“Pakistani Officials go on High Alert as They Search for Islamic Militants”
“NATO Meeting Warns of Tension Between the West and Russia”
Examples of NOT acceptable CURRENT EVENTS:
“Former New York Mayor Goes Back to Work at his News Service”
“President Obama Under Fire for Pentagon Leaks”
Read 3 Articles from 3 Different Sources
Articles should be on the same current events news story.
For example, if the story you choose is about a factory fire in Indonesia, you must find 3 different stories from 3 different sources.
Sources can be from print OR on-line.
Bring in a print/copy/cut out of all three articles to next class.
READ ALL THREE articles.
Come to the next class prepared to share the similarities and differences between the way the story is covered in each of the sources.
Come to class prepared to write a summary of your stories at the start of class.
If you do not bring your articles to the next class you will not be able to participate in the next graded activity. This activity will be done under the supervision of a substitute teacher so please be aware you will not be able to get support from them on printing or finding articles “on the fly”.
In other words… COME PREPARED
