Combining Innovation & Technology
THE CHALLENGE: Find any image on google images, take a screenshot of it our save it as a JPEG then import it into Affinity Photo. Then, create another 'invisible' layer over the top of it and using the drawing tablet, trace the picture. Once done, delete the layer that has the original image on it and you are left with your own drawing. Technology tracing!
THE DETAILS:
Become acquainted with using Affinity Photo. A tutorial is linked below.
Find an image (perhaps using Google Images) that you would like to recreate
Save the selected image or take a screenshot (shift+command+4) and drag into Affinity Photo
Add a new layer
Use the drawing tablet to begin tracing the image on the new layer
Be sure to zoom in A LOT to make tracing easier and more precise
When you have completed tracing the image, add color and your own touches to make it original
Export your project as a .jpeg to share with everyone and put onto your presentation slides!

STEAM U Levels:
GREEN CIRCLE (1 PT.)
Project is a trace of the selected picture.
Minimal tools, colors, effects used to create final product
BLUE CIRCLE (2 PTS.) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE....
While still similar, the final project displays uniqueness in comparison to original selected image.
Different colors are added, various brush sizes, styles, etc. were used.
Presentation explains at least 5 tools used in Affinity to complete the trace.
BLACK DIAMOND (3PTS) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE AND BLUE SQUARE...
Can be achieved if used in connection to another project perhaps to create a logo or poster for another project that has been worked on so that the Trace & Color image is given meaning.
Perseverance and attention to detail has been exhibited to the point that the completed image missed no small part and obviously took a lot of time to trace, erase and create.
