Mashup
THE CHALLENGE: Create your own mashup using your favorite songs or by blending styles of songs together to become one. Layer tracks, use effects, beat per minute, volume, and other techniques to create your own mixes! Take it to the next level and create a video mashup to go along with your audio mashup.
THE DETAILS:
You can choose to use either GarageBand or any other sound engineering software to create your mashup. GarageBand is on every computer in the CMA lab.
Determine the theme of your mashup. Are you going to use song favorites? Blend Orchestra with Hip-Hop? Take us on a journey through the decades?
Email Mr. Wolfe a link to the songs you want to use and he will email you back usable song files.
Dowload and drag the mp3 files Mr. Wolfe returned to you and put them into your project.
When you are all done with your song, you need to export it as an MP3 so you can share it with others. Instructions on how to export from GarageBand can be found by clicking HERE.

STEAM U Levels:
GREEN CIRCLE (1 PT.)
Mashup is created.
Various songs are included.
BLUE CIRCLE (2 PTS.) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE....
Songs used are mashed together and not just simply one song played after another.
Tracks are layered.
At least 2 special audio effects are used (tempo, fade, distortion, etc.)
There is a theme to the mashup.
All songs are cited appropriately and Fair Use Law is followed.
BLACK DIAMOND (3PTS) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE & BLUE SQUARE...
Visuals accompany the mashup to enhance both the engagement and the meaning of the song
More than 5 effects are used to create a professional quality feel to the song.
Transitions from song to song are seamless and on beat.
There is a connection between one song to the next.
The completed mashup is altered enough to feel like it is an original song created by you, the artist or DJ.
