The Challenge: Ever wanted to make sick beats or learn how to be a DJ using modern technology? Well here is your chance. Maschine Mikro by Native Instruments is a compact music making tool that allows you to make beats , loops, and melodies using preset programs including: MASSIVE, MONARK, and REAKTOR PRISM, all of which have huge libraries of sounds to choose from. The Details:

  • Begin by going to this link: 'Getting Started with Maschine Mikro'

  • Then, watch at least the first two parts of the Maschine Mikro tutorials. They can be found below.

  • Open the software (located on ONLY the Dali computer) and begin experimenting.

  • Create a beat

  • Export when finished and include in your final presentation slides

GREEN CIRCLE (1 PT.)

  • Attempt to create a beat

  • Spend 10 days working with and learning the software and the digital beat box

BLUE CIRCLE (2 PTS.) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE....

  • Use the Maschine Mikro to create 'music'.

  • Create an original beat.

  • Export that beat as a mp3 file we can also listen too.

BLACK DIAMOND (3PTS) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE & BLUE SQUARE...

  • Import original sounds onto the beat box and use them in your final beat. This could be a cough, a bang of the desk, a scream, whatever.

  • Add lyrics to your beat in garageband and export as an original song.
