Design a Sticker Collection

THE CHALLENGE: Design and create a sticker collection with a theme and purpose. Using Affinity Designer located on the lab computers, design several stickers that have the same theme. Could be travel, happiness, motivational, sports, school, cartoons, whatever interests you and you want to spread the word about. One you have designed the stickers, we will create them using the Cricut cutting machine to create the actual stickers!!

THE DETAILS:

• Design Your Sticker in Affinity Designer

1. Create a new document (a small artboard is fine—around 4–6 inches).

2. Draw your design using simple shapes and bold colors.

3. Put each color on its own layer.

   • Example: Layer 1 = black outline, Layer 2 = blue shape, Layer 3 = yellow shape.

4. When finished, hide every layer except one color and export it as an SVG file.

5. Repeat for each color layer until you have one SVG per color.

• Import Your Layers Into Cricut Design Space

1. Open Cricut Design Space and choose New Project.

2. Click Upload → Upload Image.

3. Upload your first SVG file (for the first color).

4. Repeat and upload each color layer.

5. Insert them onto the canvas.

6. Select all the layers and click “Align → Center” so the layers stack perfectly.
   
   

• Cut Each Color on Its Own Vinyl Sheet

1. Click Make It. Cricut will automatically separate the layers by color onto different cutting mats.

2. For each mat:

   • Place the correct vinyl color on the mat.

   • Load it into the Cricut.

   • Cut that layer.

3. Weed each layer by removing the extra vinyl, leaving only the shapes you designed.

• Assemble the Sticker Using Transfer Tape

1. Start with the bottom layer (the one that sits underneath the others).

2. Place transfer tape on top and smooth it down.

3. Peel the vinyl up with the transfer tape.

4. Carefully place it onto your backing sheet or surface.

5. Repeat with each remaining layer, always lining them up carefully on top of the previous one.

   • Tip: Use the “hinge method” or line up a simple guide shape if needed.

• Finish Your Sticker

• Once all layers are stacked, press everything down firmly.

• Peel off the transfer tape slowly.

• You now have a clean, multi-color vinyl sticker!
