** Brothers, please note the prayer time 8:15am-8:45 at Cupertino the coming Saturday for the perfecting training. See details below.
In attendance: D Choi, D Chui, G Tien, J Chau, J Peng, J Shau
Excused: D Wang, J Hurng, J Kan, S Lin.
2nd trial run of the new LD format with the snack break:
Reviewed the first trial run. Many positives. Some lack in engaging everyone; some seemed somewhat left out.
We decided to have a 2nd trial run tomorrow 5/14.
English-speaking church blending/outing:
We postponed Alpha House outing. We should come up with the new date soon. Practically, 9/16 and 9/30 seem good dates (sufficiently away from Labor Day conference; avoid 9/23 when there will be NorCal elders' training.)
Alpha house is booked on 9/16 but available on 9/30.
We explored some alternatives:
Redwood Christian Park (Santa Cruz): the closeness is both positive and negative. Concern is that it is more suitable for large meetings rather than blending.
Some vacation houses in Truckee area (2:30 drive vs. 3:30-4:00 for Alpha House).
...
We will make a decision in a week or two with more info of each alternative.
5/20 live streaming of the Perfecting Training in Cupertino
We are hosting the saints from Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino (total 110 trainees).
Room allocation:
Training: the main meeting room.
English-speaking room and toddlers room for parents with children.
Brothers' prayer time: 8:15am - 8:45 (fellowship room)
A/V setup and operations: J Chau, J Peng, and S Lin.
Ushering: D Choi
Food: J Chau with Alfred.
Plan for 80. We may order from nearby Subway if higher attendance.
We may cover the cost ourselves if it is the way other localities have done (George to find out).
We should ask the saints to excuse their absence (1) it is a training (2) we may help them get the materials..
6-7 graders:
Concern that we are short changing them to have LD class with 5th graders on children material.
On the personal shepherding side, we seem to have good coverage.
Originally we put the 2 6th grades with 2 5th graders together in one class due to the size. It was okay before they received the Lord. (Brother David Wang spent additional time with the 6th graders the last month toward the 6th graders' conference.)
Now we actually have 5 6-7 graders: Ashil, Lydia, Brianna, Jade, and Sean from Sunnyvale.
But now the gap of their need is big; schedule as well as 6-7 should come to the table. It is also not fitting for 6-7 to join the middle-graders (by mistake they went to the middle graders' class 5/14 LD, the serving ones said they were lost ...).
Normally we adjust the class structure and serving ones at the beginning of the new school year. But we may need to make some adjustment sooner not to miss out the critical time for the 6-7 graders as new believers.
George, Steve Lin and James will fellowship further.
