Question 1: What is working in your current model? 15:00

Avonworth: Purposeful Planning Document

Allegheny Valley lessons learned: keep a consistent schedule in hybrid learning; find a way to meet synchronously with all students daily.

Keystone Oaks lessons learned: teacher discretion for how much synchronous instruction to provide; students with special needs are able to be in the building; coaches are able to be with teachers in person. Parent Support Site

Questions 2 and 3: Share one takeaway from each article.

Allegheny Valley: Takeaways: 1. Connecting and building community is our biggest job this year - with other teachers, with students, with families. 2. There is more to do for teachers with the same amount of time. As coaches, how can we ease that for our colleagues? 3. Remote learning is forcing teachers to do things differently and revealing new strengths.

Keystone Oaks: Takeaways: 1. teachers are less resistant to technology now because they were forced into it. 2. Teachers are forced to look at learning and adapt, and there are some freedoms with hybrid/remote learning. 3. The pandemic may have changed options for educational structures forever.

Resources Shared from Shadyside Academy:

The resources below started with a Distance Learning Best Practices lower school focus group. This cross-campus PreK-5th grade group dug further into best practices and looked at how we might enhance our Spring instructional model through further faculty support (knowing we would be online or have a portion of our student body learning online throughout the year). One of the outcomes from this group's work was a Distance Learning Playbook (Lower School edition) . Once the school year got up and running, I also used the structure from this playbook and many of the resources I had been sharing with faculty to create a Middle School and Senior School playbook as well.. These playbooks mainly focus on Distance Learning Instruction but they also provide the structure to look at pedagogy and resources through a blended learning model. They do focus on the resources we have available so may not all be pertinent to everyone.
