Mini Wire Lafora screening results - update May 2015

The latest batch of test results is back from Dr. Minassian's lab in Canada. They show 8% Affected:

  • 4 Affected

  • 16 Carriers

Owners will receive their Test Certificates and these results will be added to each dog's health test resutls on the Kennel Club's database. An updated spreadsheet of all test results will be available on the WHDC website.

We have also analysed the latest litter data in the KC Breed Records Supplement and this shows that, in Spring 2015, 81% of the litters were "safe", with no risk of the puppies being affected by Lafora Disease. That still means 28 puppies were bred that are at risk of the disease and, on the basis of the known mutation frequency in the population, we would predict that 3 of these will be affected.
