GUIDELINES FOR SCORING CCOT ESSAYS IN BOND-LAMBERTY'S CLASS

(When doing so for a Grade from Bond-Lamberty)

Grade with a non-black pen (not red or its variants either). Unless otherwise instructed (which you rarely if ever will be) use the Bond-Lamberty rubric and side of chart. Also, all your labeling and bracketing should go on the right hand margin!

  • Highlight (indicated by the orange font below) and underline your thesis. Write “Thesis” in the right margin by it.
  • Bracket and label all parts addressed appropriately (e.g. AA- Social or Economic, etc.).
  • Bracket and label all evidence (e.g. E - Economic #1, or E - Social #3).
  • Highlight and label your global historical context: “Global #2 – Continuity” or “Global #4 – Change.”
  • Highlight and underline any analysis of process of change over time and/or continuity. Label it – Analysis #1 or Anal#3
  • Bracket any expanded core not already included above. Label it appropriately.
    • For example:
      • _____This is the thesis, the mighty mighty thesis. Thesis

    • This is economic evidence, real economic evidence. } E – Econ #3
      • This is a global historical context. Global #2 - Cont
      • ______This is an analysis of change over time/continuity. Anal #2
    • In the chart use a slash (/) to indicate that something (like the thesis or evidence, or really all boxes) meets your standard. If they have gained a point, or more than one point, in for that category (thesis, evidence, etc.) then write the number of points that they earned and circle it within the box of the category in the appropriate row.
