About ICT & STEM Education 關於創新科技教育

Our school started to implement one lesson of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the academic year of 2019/20. The promotion of STEM education in our school meets the world-wide education trend of making students ready for the fast-changing world in which they live. During this year, our school has been awarded in different aspects in STEM education, which including but not limited to:

On the other hand, the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in primary education has been transforming with the worldwide paradigm shift in education, in response to the challenges of a fast-changing world. ICT in education now become an important key to strengthen learning and teaching efficiency and effectiveness in the 21st century, which help equipping students to be an independent and lifelong learner. Therefore, we have offered a double lesson each week for ICT & STEM education starting from academic year 2020/2021.

Our school-based ICT & STEM education is designed based on EDB’s Technology Education Key Learning Area Curriculum and Modular Computer Awareness Programme. We not only cover the study on knowledge skills, such that, how human beings solve their daily problems and how the process could be replicated and transferred to solve new problems that arise from time to time, but also focus on students’ generic skills as well as value and attitude, especially metacognition and digital citizenship.

Learning activities will be designed for students to explore ICT & STEM related concepts with modern teaching strategies, such as hands-on activity, inquiry-based learning, dynamitic teaching strategies and cooperative learning. In addition, besides the 3/F computer room and large varieties of teaching and learning resources, our school also spent a few hundred thousand to construct a STEM Laboratory on 2/F to enrich students’ learning experience and a sense of belonging. For the formative assessment, project-based learning will be taken place instead of having quizzes and homework traditionally.

Last but most importantly, our ultimate goal is not only to equip students with up-to-date 21st century skills, but also arouse students’ learning motivation, as well as teaching and learning efficiency in all discipline through our ICT & STEM curriculum.

為切合世界發展的趨勢及裝備學生以應對經濟、科學和科技的迅速發展,本校已於2019/20學年推行小一至小六科學、科技、工程及數學 (STEM)教育,學生不但從中學會了不少STEM知識和技能,而且在公開比賽中,亦為學校贏得不少獎項,包括:

一、由艾思能達教育及大疆創新科技有限公司舉辦的《2019 全港無人機大賽 小學組》分別獲得全場總冠軍、立體迷宮賽 冠軍及編程障礙賽 季軍

二、由香港教育發展協會及粵港澳大灣區教育發展協會舉辦的《大灣區無人機編程賽》分別獲得大灣區無人機編程群飛表演賽 小學組 冠軍、大灣區無人機編程群飛表演賽 小學組 季軍及大灣區無人機編程比賽 中學及小學組 優異獎

三、由鐘聲慈善社胡陳金枝中學舉辦的《新界西無人機挑戰賽編程障礙賽》中獲得亞軍及季軍

四、由天主教培聖中學主辦的《新界西區小學科技大賽》獲得冠軍及智趣無限大獎

另一方面,面對踏進變遷速度快而複雜的廿一世紀,教學及教育改革是必不可少的,資訊及通訊科技教育的發展及基本理念亦隨著時代變遷及其挑戰而進行「範式轉向」。現時,資訊及通訊科技教育不但成為了提升各方面的學與教效率和效能重要的一環,而且能夠有效地協助學習者提升「學會學習」的能力,以達至「終身學習」。有見及此,本校於2020/21學年起為小一至小六學生增設一節資訊及通訊科技教育,並將資訊科技教育課及STEM教育課編排為雙教節。

本校的資訊及通訊科技和STEM教育課程設計者以不同的學習及心理發展理論、教育局建議的課程文件及電腦認知單元課程為基礎,並因應學生的需要、興趣、能力和學校的特點,編訂及發展適合本校的「校本課程」。課程內容將幫助學習者建立學習領域的知識,學習經歷著重人類如何能解決日常生活的問題,以及如何把此解難過程更新及轉移,以解決不斷出現的新問題,並協助學習者發展共通能力及培養正面的價值觀和積極的態度,尤其是「後設認知」及「數位公民教育」。

學習者將透過「動手做」、發現學習及合作學習等多元教學策略,學習與資訊及通訊科技和STEM教育各範疇的知識和技能。同時,本校除了將運用三樓的電腦室及多元化的教學用具進行學與教的活動外,本校亦特意斥資數十萬元建立二樓STEM創科實驗室,以豐富學生對STEM的經驗和歸屬感。另外,本校將以專題式學習取代傳統以紙筆功課及測驗形式進行進展性評估。

最後,本校的資訊及通訊科技和STEM教育最終目的為,裝備學生面對二十一世紀挑戰,並且提升學生對學習的興趣和動機,使各科的學與教效率能夠透過本科的學習最大化。


Statistics (P5 - P6 Coding Education in 2019-2020)

P5 and P6 students have learned about how to create different programs through coding and programming with BBC micro:bit.

At the end of year, 1,204 students from P5 and P6 participated in a survey about the STEM curriculum. The results are shown in the table and charts attached. 1 indicates 'strongly agree' and 5 indicates 'strongly disagree.' From this data we can conclude that students significantly enjoyed learning coding and programming (4.05 out of 5), even if it was considered difficult for students to learn (3.31 out of 5).

Students felt that coding education helped them with many areas of learning, as we can see in Table 3. Creativity (4.26 out of 5), problem-solving skills (4.04 out of 5), self-management and study skills (3.71 out of 5). STEM education and IT education are not only global education trends, but are also useful in teaching our students’ extremely important life skills.

A1. 來年的創新科技科將會有考試及列在成績表內。評估將同時採用常模、標準及個體參照,進行進展性及總結性的評估,包括學生課堂表現、專題研習、小測及考試。但是,成績不會計算在小五及小六的中學學位分配內。

Q2. STEAM Education 創新科技科 的課時比例?

A2. 本校2020/2021學年起增設電腦科一節,將資訊科技教育課及STEM教育課編排為雙教節,並命名為創新科技科。旨在透過雙教節,進行與資訊及通訊科技,以及STEM教育相關的教學活動或科學實驗等,提升其學與教的效能。因此,每級ICT課程和STEM課程的比例不一。

A3. 現時本港的小學並沒有相關「電腦課」及「STEM教育課」的課程指引。本校的課程設計者,參考教育局提供的電腦認知單元課程、科技教育學習領域課程指引及科學教育學習領域課程指引,並配合校內及鄰近社區現有的資源優勢,設計一套適合本校學生興趣和能力的校本課程。而本校的校本課程將全面涵蓋創科的三方面,分別為基礎電腦課程(如 Google 應用)+計算思維編程教育(如VRARScratch App Inventor STEM 教育(如科學及科技實驗、水耕種植及3D打印)。學生亦會在課堂上學習不同的科技及資訊素養等。

Q4. 如何才能獲選參加校內的 STEAM Education 創新科技科 資優課程?

A4. 負責教師將根據學生的創新科技科成績及學生表現,挑選合適的學生參加ICT & STEM資優課程。本校的資優課程包括無人機校隊、程式設計校隊、編程機械人校隊和編碼及編程校隊等等。

A5. 本校除了將運用三樓的電腦室及多元化的教學用具進行學與教的活動外,本校亦特意斥資數十萬元建立二樓STEM創科實驗室,以豐富學生對STEM的經驗和歸屬感。而校內的教學資源包括但不限於,立體打印機、水耕種植系統、75 教育型大型觸控互動顯示器及其他教學資源(mBotDash and dotMindstormsMicro:bitFischer Technik Tello 無人機)等等。

A6. 為有效地計用社區資源,提升學生對 STEAM Education 創新科技 的學習興趣和動機,本校參加了不同教育局的優質教育基金主題網絡計劃,當中包括:香港大學電機電子工程系電子學習發展實驗室《以全方位自主學習推展校本STEM課程》計劃、佛教何南金中學《透過機械人活動促進高小STEM教育》計劃及天水圍香島中學的《STEM創客教室》計劃等。本校亦與其他的社區中心及中學合作,為本校學生提供課後的免費STEM教育工作坊及活動等。

本校將定期舉行家長工作坊,以加強家校合作及配合推行電子學習。家長亦能夠運用本校設計的校本版電子及實體書,以及其電子教學平台,協助學生學習相關單元。

本校的創新科技科將以另類的評估方法,取代傳統的紙筆評估方法,不以學生背誦知識為主,讓學生表現出整體的知識、技能和態度。因此,主要的課業為進展性評估,如小組研究及專題研習等。

Q9. 家長需否付費購買任何教具及電腦等配合學校推行課程?

A9. 為配合推行 STEAM Education 創新科技科 教育的成效,一至六年級需要家長自付購買相關教材,當中包括校本實體及電子書、無人機網上學習平台賬戶、科學實驗套件及Micro:bit微型電腦等。

A10. 本校於2019/20年度將STEM教育獨立成科,為各級學生提供每週一節的STEM教育課堂。此舉,不但能夠確保預留充足課時讓學生進行各類的科學實驗及課堂活動以學習STEM教育的相關知識、技能及態度,且能夠提升學生對STEM教育的學習興趣和動機,提升推行STEM教育的效率及效能。另一方面,本校除了將STEM教育於科本進行外,亦有在各科渗透STEM 教育,將各學習領域整合起來,強調綜合各科之間的關聯,推行綜合課程及理念。誇學科學習的例子包括:
