In groups of three or four, try to reach a consensus on the above question.
In order to have a constructive discussion, you will need to refer back to the texts that we have covered on this topic in the reading classes from week 2 and week 3, which discussed problems relating to food waste, food distribution and obesity. The discussion is a chance for you to demonstrate that you've read and understood the texts, but also for you to offer your own views. Which problem is most prominent? In what ways are these issues connected? Are the problems localised and isolated, or are they part of a bigger picture? Thinking about these kinds of questions while you talk as a group will help you develop critical thinking, which is one of the key skills you will need at university.
Finally, use the discussion to practise incorporating new language into your speaking. Putting new language like this into production strengthens your recall ability for new words and phrases, and is essential for developing as a language learner.
