Research Environment

The multidisciplinary yet fully integrated structure of Biology at York, combined with our nationally and internationally recognised fundamental and strategic research expertise enables us to offer our research students a stimulating, intellectually demanding yet friendly research environment. Graduate student and postdoctoral research associate office and lab space is open-plan with common spaces, promoting a favourable environment for discussion, interdisciplinary contact and joint research. Integration is reflected in the many active and highly successful cross-disciplinary collaborations in the Department and there are several common areas for meeting and eating. A research student's TAP is also a key feature of our departmental research environment and provides an opportunity for the graduate student to get to know other academics and their research groups around the department.
