The milestones that a research student must achieve include:

Timeline of Formal Progression (PhD only)

It is important that you be aware of the timeline of the events/stages in your degree programme, including:

  • key dates for departmental requirements

  • the timing of Progress Review meetings

  • when the departmental BGSB will consider recommendations from Progression Panels

  • key dates applicable to students making a second attempt

Time lines showing the structure of your programme and the key milestones you must achieve as a research student are:

PhD Formal Progression Meeting (Month)

4 Year 9, 21 & 33

NB: These timings apply from the date you start: for the standard cohort entry point this is September/October; for non-standard starts, they will be relative to your start date.
