AS Course Construction - Year 12
Unit 1 The language of chemistry, structure of matter and simple reactions (20%)
Unit 2 Energy, rate and carbon chemistry (20%)
A2 Course Construction - Year 13
Unit 3 Physical and inorganic chemistry (25%)
Unit 4 Organic chemistry and analysis (25%)
Unit 5 Practical examination (10%)
Units 1 - 4 are each examined by an externally assessed paper containing short answer questions, structured and extended answer questions.
Unit 5 is an externally assessed practical examination which will take place in Year 13.
There will also be a number of practical tasks that are mandatory throughout the two years.
