Welcome to the Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School
6th Form options information website.
Before exploring the subject pages please read the welcome message from Head Teacher Mrs Kite, information from Leader of Key Stage 5, Mrs McMillan and a personal message from Principal Student, Charlotte Lewis. Thank you.
Dear Students and parents,
I am really pleased to present you with some information about our Sixth Form at Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School.
This is often a confusing time for students – trying to choose your future when so many opportunities are open to you. Many of the courses we offer are new subjects or areas of learning to you. I hope that you will also find it exciting to be thinking about your future.
I hope that you will find useful information in this prospectus and during our Options Evening on 30th January 2025.
The Options website and event gives you a chance to see research course content, read through subject resources and discuss your course potential with staff. You’ll also get a chance to talk to current Sixth Form members to find out what Sixth Form life is like from a learner’s perspective.
Please take the time to consider your choices carefully – it’s a vital step. With several thousand possible combinations, you’ve plenty to choose from!
Do seek advice and guidance from subject teachers, career advisers and – if you already have a career in mind – employers. Explore your options. Choose what suits you and not what your friends are doing. If you have any difficult to answer questions about subject combinations, or which subjects are most appropriate for particular careers or university courses, then please raise them directly with Mrs McMillan in the Sixth Form Office.
For existing students, I hope you decide to return to the Sixth Form, we have never had more subjects, better facilities on offer or a better track record of success than now. We are also exploring hybrid learning options in order to help prepare students for academic life at University. In the Sixth Form you will also notice that your relationship with teachers change, reflecting your growing maturity as a student.
It’s a rewarding and enjoyable time for students. Ever since the move to Ysgol Harri Tudur the Sixth Form have proven a credit to the school with their fantastic efforts in subjects, their Seren selection, their extra-curricular contributions as Prefects and their successes in running whole school charitable events with over £3,500 raised in Term 1 of 2024-25 already.
I wish you every success in your application to join us and I hope to see you in September 2024 as a highly valued member of our valued Sixth Form community at Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School.

A Message from Nieve McNally, Principal Student 2024-2025.
Ysgol Harri Tudur sixth form offers students a fantastic opportunity not only to learn and develop academically, but to also be an active member of the school and the wider community.
Whether your ambitions are to go to university, do an apprenticeship, enter the workplace, or if they are undecided, Ysgol Harri Tudur sixth form will provide you with the guidance and support to help you meet your goals.
We are extremely fortunate at Ysgol Harri Tudur’s sixth form to have access to a variety of facilities designated to our students. These include the Sixth Form Common Room, the Sixth Form Study Room and even a designated Sixth Form area within our school Library; all of these areas provide a great environment to work in, along with amazing staff who support and encourage us while we’re doing so.
Additionally to the fantastic academic elements of Ysgol Harri Tudur Sixth Form, there is an amazing variety of opportunities offered to us throughout our time as students, whilst also allowing us to take on an active role within the wider community. We have participated in many fundraising events, one being the MacMillan coffee, where all students set up their own stalls where they’d sell items to the lower school in order to raise money. For Children In Need, Sixth Form learners hosted a variety of activities in which the lower school partook in, encouraging everybody to get involved for the amazing cause. In terms of allowing Sixth Form students to express their creativity, students are offered to chance to direct the school House Plays competition, and create the set and props needed for each play.
Regarding learners taking their next steps into higher education, whether that is University, apprenticeships or entering the workplace, throughout the time in Sixth Form, learners are given the opportunity explore a wide range of careers through visits to universities, trips to careers days/ UCAS fairs and talks from a range of employers and education providers. Additionally, our sixth form has close links with local employers, allowing learners to gain valuable experiences throughout their time as sixth formers. Our designated work experience week also teaches us valuable skills within the workplace, while also helping learners to form more of an idea of what their next step will look like after sixth form. In terms of university applications, learners are given amazing support during the UCAS application process, along with external providers such as the SEREN network, to put together good quality UCAS or job applications, along with writing their personal statement.
Therefore, Ysgol Harri Tudur sixth form not only provides exceptional academic opportunities for learners, but also gives learners the chance to become a part of the community, and develop valuable skills in order to prepare for wherever their next steps may take them.
