A friendly, relaxed and welcoming but quiet and purposeful study environment, with study tables for individual work or work in pairs; study booths for work-focused discussion and group work; and the Reading Lounge for relaxed reading.
A wide range of relevant and up to date resources (print and online) to support your studies and leisure reading, including fiction (extensive selection of YA (Young Adult) and Fiction+ reads), information books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, e-books, maps, playscripts, and subscriptions to online sources targeted at Sixth Form study.
Resources in the Sixth Form Collection specific to your KS5 courses - textbooks you're using in class, additional textbooks, wider reading around the topics you're studying to enrich your knowledge and understanding, study guides and revision guides. Evidence of wider reading sets you above other students and helps you to gain extra marks and therefore potentially higher grades.
Help and support for your learning, answers to your enquiries and help with your research needs throughout the day from 8.30am until 4.30pm (3.15pm on Fridays) from a qualified, chartered librarian.
Helpsheets, pathfinders and guides to help you get the best out of your Library, and to help you with your independent learning. Topics covered include referencing, avoiding plagiarism, using Accessit, YHT's Library Web App, as well as pathfinders specific to topics or texts you are studying (for example: Gothic writing pathfinder; King Lear pathfinder etc)
Access 24/7 to Accessit, Ysgol Harri Tudur's Library Web App. Use it to browse the catalogue, reserve books and other items online, check your account and renew items, and keep up with the latest additions to your Library, plus links to events in the wider world.
Extensive opening hours – we are open before school from 8.30am, and throughout the day, including breaks, and after school until 4.30pm.
Shelf Help - a range of information books on a variety of topics to support our wellbeing and mental health. Includes mindfulness colouring sheets and other resources for when you need that important break from study!
Plenty of fantastic 'readaxation' [Nicola Morgan’s word] books to give you that vital escape from study and exam pressures - you deserve it and need it! Check out the wide selection of YA (Young Adult) and Fiction+ reads.
Laptops and desktop computers which you can book to use when studying in the Library.
Printing and photocopying facilities.
Book Recommendations / Suggestions– If there’s a book you’d really like to see in the Library, just fill in a suggestions slip and place it in the Suggestions Box in the Library. We’ll do our best to purchase it for you and will let you know when it arrives. Suggestions are welcome by email too - just email Mrs Smith giving as much information as you can about what you're requesting.
