Reflecting on my goals for the semester
I believe that I achieved my goals for the semester. Although a few of the photos I took this semester may not have been too personal, they were memories that showed my skill increase and the work that I have put into the semester. I was able to get super creative with photos, especially with Photoshop (for example Bryn diving into the hoop). I was also able to learn a ton more about photography and its history! We created that whole slideshow and I learned about the people, the dates, and the different steps along the way that pushed photography to be here today. I think the coolest part was in the dark room with the camera obscura, I enjoyed that very much. Reflecting on my previous paragraph/first thoughts, I said that I was creative with other mediums but not as much photography. I learned this semester about different ways to set up a photo, perspectives, lighting, photoshop, depths of field, and more, which all lead to a more sophisticated, original, and creative photograph. So yes, I achieved my goals!
First Thoughts, Goals for the Semester
I want to make memories to look back on and enjoy later in life. I want to be able to remember thoughts that I was thinking in a moment. I hope to be able to get more creative with photography. Yes, I am creative with other art forms such as painting, clay, drawing, etc., but I would like to expand that creativity into photography. Also, I would like to expand my knowledge on the art of photography as a whole, because I find it really interesting.
When I look ahead, I would love to be able to continue to use my DSLR for photography using the skills that I learned in this class. I am super interested in that process and I think it would be fun to even use some more photoshop. Another goal of mine would be to continue to challenge myself with photography, to make the photos memorable and something that I would love to look back on and be proud of. Even if I am just using my phone, there are different perspectives and techniques that I can use to make my photos more original and nice to look at. I think using those techniques would be a good goal for me, instead of just snapping a picture without a thought. Photo II would be a good class to continue my growth and knowledge of photography. Outside of school, I can continue to practice my skills with photoshop and the DSLR to continue to grow and reach my goals.
