Reflecting on my goals for the semester:
The two concepts that I believe are the most important for me to have learned this semester were 1.) patience, and 2.) persistence. This was proven important in many of my projects this semester. These were important because they both prove to be very helpful while making art. If you are not patient, you will never get high-quality work that you are fully satisfied with. If you are not persistent, you will never be able to fully push the boundaries and be able to achieve what you are capable of. For example, in my final watercolor landscape below, patience was the only reason I was able to capture the colors and the textures of the sky and the water. Persistence became very apparent and important during my Unsung Hero project. I could have been done a lot earlier but ended up spending hours extra adding details and other specifics and color changes in order for it to be the best that it could be and to my abilities. The picture of my Unsung Hero project below is my final project, but I ended up changing the uniform, changing the background color, adding a border, making things more dimensional, etc. Overall, all of those changes were necessary and important to the final project, but it definitely took me a long time to learn how to push myself further instead of giving up and/or not giving it my all. This was the same case for my patience. It took a long time for me to develop patience and use it in my art, but in the end, it was very worth it and I am glad that I was able to implement both of these concepts that I learned during Drawing and Painting.

Unsung Hero Project
Assignment I am most proud of:
Looking back, I am most proud of my Unsung Hero Project (above). This is for a few reasons. One being I probably spent the most time out of school working on it. I was really able to take creative responsibilities with it and make it my own. I love working with acrylic, but this project proved as a little bit of a challenge because of the patterns and the cranes. They were a little tricky, but I think I was able to pull it off in the end. Another reason that this is the one I am most proud of is because of the prompt. I think that I interpreted Jacob Valentine's achievements fairly well, and I brought them all together. Lastly, I am most proud of this one because of how little time we had. We were really crunched on time, and I believe that we all did an amazing job on this project. I utilized my few classes in school well, I believe, but I also missed a couple of classes which set me behind. I was able to get back and turn everything in on time. I also am just proud of how it turned out. I really like the layout, and this is probably the most detailed acrylic I've ever done. I just think that it meets the requirements and I used acrylic to make it shine. As with the impact it had on my learning, I think it positively impacted it. I was able to use my time at home to finish, and I did not procrastinate, and it paid off. I was able to use acrylic -which we hadn't used this whole year- to my strengths and follow the instructions. I thought that it was really cool to be able to research Jacob Valentine and really hear his story before painting because it brought a sense of knowing to the painting. My learning in art class wasn't just about the art specifically, but how to learn about somebody and interpret it onto a canvas, which is sort of like the bigger story. Overall, this project really impacted my learning and I grew as an artist.
Trying to succeed:
Looking ahead, considering my visual art knowledge and interests, I want to do advanced drawing and painting next year, and so on from there. I also own art supplies at my house, and I will keep using those and experimenting with new techniques I have learned. Some new goals are to keep up with my art, and not drop it. I want to keep getting better and do different kinds of art. I want to experiment with ceramics as well. Maybe combine them all and paint on ceramics. Anyways, another goal of mine is to push my limits. Whatever that means, it could be trying a new technique, using a new medium, taking a different class, basically everything. I just want to expand my knowledge so that I have more freedom when it comes to making up an idea for a project. I don't want to just be stuck with one or two mediums that I am strong with and not be able to interpret my thoughts onto a canvas or paper. Outside of school, I can definitely work by myself, but also a class might be fun to take to get some more knowledge. In school, I would like to take ceramics and also other Drawing and Painting classes, to expand in those departments as well.
