Reflecting on my Goals for the Semester:
I definitely met my goals for the semester. We spent a lot of time working with film cameras and in the dark room and I understand now how to develop photos completely on my own and with the help of my peers. I feel confident in my ability to develop photos and if I ever work with the film in the future I know I have a strong foundation. We didn't use Adobe Lightroom this semester but I found myself not really needing to edit my photos very much. I learned more about the camera settings including a learning experience with the ISO and because of that my photos come out looking great without any editing.
This picture is very grainy because I had a high ISO while taking it but it was cloudy. I didn't understand how ISO worked but I do now so my pictures aren't grainy
This is a picture I took on a mindfulness walk with my DSLR. It's not edited and the blurry background was because I used a low f-stop.
Goals for the Semester:
This semester, I want to learn how to use a film camera and how to edit digital photos to enhance lighting, blur, grain, and temperature. I think Adobe Lightroom has some really cool options for editing so I would like to learn how to use that. One idea for assignments could be decades, like the '60s. We would have to take pictures but edit them so they look like they're taken in that era. That would help us make use of grain or we could shoot film. There could also be an assignment where we have to photograph at a specific time of day because it would allow us to understand how light changes over time.

Successes:
One of the biggest successes from this semester was my photographer emulation assignmnet. I emulated Walter Wick, the creator of I-Spy. Particularly I like the photo with a blue background with a lot of animals in it. I learned a lot about what makes a certain style of photography and I was successful both in researching him, the presentation of the final video, and in the photographs I took. It was difficult to fully capture his style since he has a lot more materials than I did, but I was successful nonetheless. Another success I had was with the film camera still life assignment. I learned so much about how to shoot and develop film and I'm very proud of the compositions of my photos and the results, especially the photo of the figure looking in the mirror because I think it tells a story of self-reflection with a very simplistic face.
