first thoughts/ goals for the semester
What inspires me to make art are the things I see in day to day life. More often than not, I end up being inspired by the most boring things. I love mundane things because sometimes there’s beauty that people don’t pay attention to. For example, the rain on the roof of a car and the shapes it makes on the glass. Mirrors that can reflect an entire world back at you. These are things that people notice but don’t think about. I think they’re beautiful. I want to be better at matching a drawing to its original source. I think stylization is important and I don't want it to be hyper-realistic. I want people to be able to look at the original image and look at my drawing and see the correlation. I find that when I draw from a source by myself my own interpretation of it takes over and it ends up looking like something completely different. That’s not a bad thing but I want to be able to see the similarities in what I was looking at and what I created.
