Purpose:
To create a series of photographs that tell a story with a clear beginning, middle and end;
To communicate tension/climax through the photographs;
To learn about book arts;
To explore different formats for presentation.
In what ways does the presentation of your photographs in book format change the way they are viewed and understood? Does it make it more interesting? Why or why not?
Because of the ability of the photo book to be displayed with every page open, I had more options for what to include next to all the pictures to further enhance the story. This can add context to the photographs which can make the story more interesting and more easily understood. I also think that printed photographs tend to look better than when they’re on a screen. I’m not sure if that’s because of lighting on a laptop but I always prefer to see them printed. The ability to fully customize the surroundings of the photographs also helps the aesthetics of them and it looks more finished and intentional than just a single photo on a screen.
