"A Dying Medium"
I took this shot on a field trip to the Portland Press Herald. This picture was taken in the printing room, and is of the cart where they bring the papers off to be mailed. I chose to photograph it because of the peeling metal, and because the U.S. Mail system itself is also dying in a way as technology replaces it.
"Hole in the Wall"
I took this picture in Royal River Park in the same location as my fourth picture. There are piles of bricks laying in the grass that I think were part of a structure and are now living in the park. This particular picture is zoomed in to show the missing part of the bricks. I also like the peeling and faded blue color.
"Erosion"
This picture is also from Royal River Park, but features a different location. This wall is across the way from the river and I wanted to photograph it because it shows the discoloration from the river hitting it for many years. I like this shot because while it fits the theme, it also displays the beauty of the Royal River.
"Ridge"
This picture is of the same brick structure as before, but in a different location and of a different feature. These bricks were probably sealed together at some point as shown by the lingering cement, but have since broken apart and left the ridge in the middle. Adding to this shot's composition are the weeds poking out.
