To paint facial features correctly, a basic sense of anatomy is required. Luckily, looking at our pictures provided a clear reference where we could see the way the parts of our faces connect. Layering is important predominantly in the eyes. It's necessary to paint the lighter colors first to avoid smudging with the darker shades. Being limited to shades of grey was a great exercise to strengthen our understanding of light and the way objects interact with it.
