The assignment I'm the proudest of from this semester is the pinhole photography. The reason for this is that I found this the most challenging and it took me a lot of tries to get it right. I thought the premise of the assignment eas very interesting, but it was a complicated process so when I finally got a good result I was very happy. I thought I learned the most from this assignment as well because it taught me how to develop film, which I believe we'll be doing in Photo II. It was so interesting that a can of paint with a hole could become a photograph, and the process of developing it and experimenting with how long we left the hole open was really enjoyable.
Looking ahead, I want to learn more about film photography. Ideally I would learn how to use a film camera and develop that which is a process that I imagine is different from the pinhole photography. I also want to use my DSLR more both in and out of class because now I feel like I understand how it works more than I did before. Some new goals I have are to learn more about the parts of a camera and eventually to know what every button on my DSLR does to make sure I'm getting the full use out of it. I also want to be more creative in my photos with subjects and perspectives. I think we get more interpretive prompts for biweekly assignments in Photo II so I think that will be a great chance to experiment. Taking Photo II and eventually Photo III will help me reach this skill level because I need to keep practicing. I'll keep taking pictures outside of class to develop my understanding of my DSLR.
