Elizabeth McNamee was a West Islip student, and graduated from Harvard University with honors. She was in her final year at NYU Law School when, unexpectedly, her life ended. Elizabeth died at the age of 25 from a heart disease known as Hypertrophic Cardomyopathy (HCM), the number one cause of sudden cardiac death among America's youth. As a tribute to Elizabeth's memory, and to help her foundation, we are implementing an old/used cell phone & used ink cartridge fund drive. Through the successes of this fund raising event, it has provided many High School Scholarships and has contributed to many charities like: The Children's Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Association, The Great South Bay YMCA, Breast Cancer organization, Pulmonary Heart Disease, Community projects and, most importantly, the HCM Association. The drive will begin on February 10, 2020, and terminate on May 29, 2020. There will be a box placed in the vestibule here at Beach Street for the collection of the cell phones and cartridges. We thank you for your support.
Please make sure you are wearing your ID cards every single day. As you know, this is an important safety measure. If you do not have your ID card, please report to the main office each day during advisory in order to get a temporary ID sticker that must be worn all day. A letter was sent home stating that students who do not have their ID will receive a detention every 3rd time that you do not have the ID card in school. We have noticed the number of students without their IDs has decreased over time, but ID cards must be worn every day and this is something that as a building we want to continue to work on. If you have any questions, please see Ms. DeFreitas.
The $99.00 balance for the 8th grade field trip to Broadway was due on Friday, March 6, 2020. If you have any questions, please see Ms. De Freitas right away.

The Red Ribbon is also a silent symbol and the way to honor Special Agent Camerena's philosophy that "One person can make a difference." The offense scored a Beach Street record 8 touchdowns against the Copiague Eagles. The Lions also converted 6 extra points and kicked a two point conversion. Crushing blocks and fast moving feet allowed the Lions to gain 463 yards of total offense. The Lions earned their first shut out of the season by playing stingy defense only allowing the Copiague Eagles 3 first down over four quarters. The defense made tackle after tackle often for a loss of yardage. The key to this victory was the effort by each member of our team. We played as a unit. Congratulations on a job well done. The Lions next contest will be at 9:00 AM on Saturday October 12th on the Barberry Turf Field at West Islip High School. Please come support our team as we take on the Eagles of West Babylon
