Volunteer Appreciation

During the next two months, all Lindsay Volunteers are invited to participate in wonderful networking opportunities around the bay brought to you by the Lindsay Volunteer Coordinator Team. We've arranged a series of excellent events to thank you for dedicating your time, energy, and love to supporting us in connecting people with wildlife to inspire responsibility and respect for the world we share.

Sulphur Creek Nature Center

April 17th, Wednesday

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

We will visit Sulphur Creek Nature Center for an insider's look at wildlife rehabilitation and education at this neighboring wildlife rescue. The mission of the Sulphur Creek Nature Center is to instill a sense of responsibility for the welfare of our world by bringing people and animals closer together through wildlife rehabilitation and education.

Carpools will depart Lindsay Wildlife lower parking lot at 12:00 pm

Volunteer Appreciation Potluck

April 25th, Thursday

6:00 pm – 8:30 pm, Lindsay Exhibit Hall

Please join us for a Volunteer Potluck!

  • Mac and Cheese Bar with lots of toppings, including vegan chili, will be provided!

  • Volunteers please bring your favorite appetizer, dessert, or drink to share!

California Academy of Sciences, Dino Days Exhibit

April 29th, Monday

10:30 am, Cal Academy Business Entrance

Admission to the California Academy of Sciences and have a chance to see the Dino Days exhibit.

Please meet at the Business Entrance to the Cal Academy, 75 Nancy Pelosi Dr., (on the opposite side of the building from the main public entrance on Music Concourse Dr.) promptly at 10:30 am.

TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS:

    • Public Transportation: Avoid the hassle of traffic and lower your carbon footprint by taking BART and MUNI. Meet a Lindsay Staff Member at Civic Center Station at 9:30 am (stay inside the paid fare gate area until we have gathered everyone). We will guide you to a MUNI transfer to take the N Judah followed by a half mile stroll through Golden Gate Park to arrive at our final destination. Clipper Card highly recommended or please carry exact change in cash.

    • Carpools: We are happy to connect volunteers to each other for a carpool. Please keep in mind that drive time is at your own risk and has taken up to 2.5 hours (one way) from SF to Walnut Creek on previous trips.

    • Meet us there: Coming from a different direction? Please meet us promptly at 10:30 am at the Cal Academy Business Entrance.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Behind-the-Scenes Tour

May 13th, Monday

10:00 am

We will be visiting Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA to get a behind the scenes look at their animal program!

  • Please note: the theme park will be closed that day. The tour will last a couple hours so please wear comfortable shoes and bring a snack and water (the only available food is off property). Don't forget your camera!

  • Carpools will depart Lindsay Wildlife lower parking lot at 9:15 am.

  • Location: 1001 Fairgrounds Dr, Vallejo, CA 94589
