Logging Volunteer Hours
Logging volunteer hours is very important for the Lindsay. Lindsay donors and grant funding agencies look for indications of community support as evidenced by the number of recorded volunteer hours. So please record your hours, it does affect donor support.
There are two ways to record your hours:
Use the log sheet on the clipboard in the Volunteer Room at the hospital. Each day the log sheet has a list of volunteers scheduled for shifts, and columns for reporting the different types of volunteer hours. There are also blank lines to write yourself in if you are not pre-scheduled. You can record any category of hours, for any day (not just the current day), just write a note on the line to let me know how to credit the hours.
Log in to the Lindsay Volunteer System using your email and password. This can be done at the computer in the Volunteer Room, or at home. On the Time Sheet tab select the date, choose the Assignment (category), enter the number of hours, and click “Continue”. On the next screen that appears click “Yes” to verify/enter your hours. If you don’t click “Yes” to verify the entry, the hours will not be recorded. If entering hours online, do not use the fields labeled “Education Dept. Only” (Commute Time or Prep Time), your hours will not be recorded from those fields.
Assignments/Categroies
These are the hour-reporting categories that are listed as Assignments in LVS, and as column headers on the log sheet on the clipboard. Please try to apportion your hours by function. If you have hours to report and don’t know what category to use, don’t stress it, report them in any category you like, just please get them logged.

The fine print: Why these categories for reporting hours? First, I think it will be interesting for us to see, in a broad sense, how we spend our time volunteering for the Linsday. Secondly, because these categories will help jog our memories to report hours that we may have overlooked.
