The following is for CLDE teachers performing observation cycles with teachers new to the district. These are not evaluative, they are simply part of a coaching cycle to help everyone become better teachers.
The CLDE Observation Tool (2 of 3) looks for the following items:
Content and Language Objectives are clearly communicated to students
Build background/activate prior knowledge
Scaffolding/Supplementary materials are used to promote comprehension
Explicit vocabulary strategies
Cooperative Learning Strategies are used to promote language development and social collaboration in the classroom.
Minimum 30 minutes
CLDE specialist fills out form and makes suggestions while the teacher shares their plan and forwards it to the teacher when completed.
