I hope this email finds you well and that you are getting settled back in for the new school year! I wanted to extend a warm welcome to our new CLDE teachers and to all of our returning teachers as well. I look forward to working with all of you in the coming school year as we support our Multilingual Learners together.
A few updates to begin the school year:
As our CLDE coordinator and TOSA team, Jen McNally and Tricia Corneau have already been instrumental in supporting all of you with PD sessions during NTOT (for our new folks) and district PD yesterday for everyone. We hope these sessions have been helpful as we work to align CLDE supports and strategies in every classroom. Of course, Jen and Tricia will continue to be vital resources for all of you throughout the year.
We will be seeking your feedback throughout the school year regarding the curriculum---what is working, what is not working, etc.---after you've had the opportunity to implement it for a while. More details to come on how that will work in the near future.
Integrated Services - With the combining of all specialized/individualized services under one division this school year—Integrated Services—we have a collective goal to increase supports students are receiving within the regular classroom. I know you had a brief introduction to this yesterday, and we will continue to discuss this approach in the coming weeks. While there are certain students who still require the separate designated block in their schedule with a CLDE specialist, we have incorporated some additional flexibilities for blending some of these services within the regular classroom for some students. I have attached the Integrated Services document for your review (pgs. 15-18 have CLDE requirements).
