FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON SCHOLARSHIPS
Q: When will I be assessed for the scholarship?
Scholarship assessment is conducted after you have completed the required number of subjects within the designated period:
Year 2: After completing at least 8 subjects in Term 1–3. Scholarship is assessed in Term 4, and deduction will be applied in Term 5.
Year 3: After completing at least 8 subjects in Term 4–6. Scholarship is assessed in Term 7, and deduction will be applied in Term 8.
Q: Do I need to submit any documents to be considered for the continuing scholarship?
No. The process is automatic, and eligible students will be assessed based on their academic results. The scholarship recipients will be announced on MyWSU.VN.
Q: How is my GPA calculated for the scholarship?
Your GPA is calculated based on the top 8 first-attempted subjects within the relevant terms:
Year 2: Term 1–3
Year 3: Term 4–6
Q: What does “first-attempted subjects” mean?
It refers to the first time you take a subject. Any repeated or retaken subjects will not be considered in the GPA calculation.
Q: In my academic transcripts, there are 2 columns, grade and mark (numerical and letter grades). Which one is used for scholarship calculation?
The numerical grades will be used for scholarship calculation.
Example: If your 8 best subjects have the following marks (out of 100): 90, 88, 85, 84, 83, 81, 80, 79
GPA calculation = (90+88+85+84+83+81+80+79) ÷ 8 = 83.75 => 30% scholarship.
Q: My GPA = 79.99. Can it be rounded up to 80?
No. GPA is rounded to two decimal places only.
Examples:
GPA = 79.995 => 80.00 (round up)
GPA = 79.994 => 79.99 (round down)
GPA = 79.99 => 79.99 (no change)
Q: What happens if I completed 9 subjects in year 2?
Only the top 8 subjects (highest grades) will be used to calculate your scholarship eligibility.
The 1 remaining subject will not be carried over to count towards the Year 3 scholarship calculation.
Q: I complete 9 subjects and get a GPA > 80, but I have a failed subject in the 1st term. Am I still eligible for Year 2 scholarship?
Students with any failed subjects within the scholarship assessment period are not eligible for the scholarship.
Q: I complete 9 subjects and get a GPA > 80, but I have a failed subject in the 1st term. I am not eligible for Year 2 scholarship. Is there any chances I can get the scholarship of Year 3?
Yes. You may still be considered for the Year 3 scholarship, provided that you meet all eligibility requirements for the Year 3 assessment period.
Q: If I take 4 subjects in all 3 terms of my first year, meaning I will complete a total of 12 subjects, how many subjects will be considered for the GPA calculation for the scholarship?
The scholarship will be based on the highest 8 courses out of the 12 courses you have completed. The remaining 4 courses will not be included in the GPA calculation for the scholarship evaluation.
Q: I take 4 subjects per term, and after 2 terms, I accumulate a GPA > 80. Will I be included in the scholarship list, or do I need to wait until I finish the first 3 terms?
You will need to wait until you have completed at least 8 subjects within the required period (Term 1–3 for Year 2, or Term 4–6 for Year 3). Scholarship eligibility is assessed only after this requirement is met.
Q: I meet the criteria for scholarship but my name is not on the list. What should I do?
