HISTORY OF THE HALL OF FAME

The Warren County High School Athletic Hall of Fame was created in 2002 by former athletic director Buck Smith. It began with the induction of Lawrence M. Sweeney Shiflett as the inaugural member. In 2003, a Hall of Fame committee was organized and composed of: Lawrence Sweeney - Chair, Buck Smith - Director of Athletics, Charlie Dodge - assistant athletic director, Kip Ritenour - Warren Sentinel and Ernestine Jordan - WCHS Principal. The committee created the criteria that would be used in selecting former coaches, athletes, and contributors into the athletic hall of fame. The committee agreed the first class of inductees would take place during the fall of 2003. In 2022 the committee was passed to the athletic administration at Warren County High School. The Hall of Fame has inducted members every year of existence and currently has a total of eighty one members!
