AUTHORIZED SIGNATURES

The School Committee Chair has the authority to sign documents for the purpose of providing information required by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). However, the signing by the Chair of any instrument that results in the expenditure of funds requires the approval of the School Committee.

In the case of lawsuits settled in a court of law where the School Committee is named as a defendant, School Committee approval is required for the Chair to sign any settlement related instruments.

The Chair of the School Committee and the Superintendent will sign payrolls presented for approval.

The town treasurer, who also serves as the school department treasurer, signs all checks drawn against school department funds. No other signature is valid.
