The Physical Education Program at the Middle & High School offers a wide variety of grade-level-appropriate activities and units. Emphasis is placed upon the individual student meeting our New York State Physical Education Standards and grade-level unit objectives.
Each Middle School Lesson is worth a total of 10 points.
Standard 1 - Participation/Skill (Competency in a variety of motor skills and patterns)
Standard 2 - Knowledge (Understanding game rules and regulations, tactics, strategy, safety)
Standard 3 - Fitness (Knowledge of and participation in warm-ups, stretches, strength training, endurance, etc.)
Standard 4 - Social Interaction (Respect, Sportsmanship, Cooperation, Acceptance, Ethics)
Standard 5 - Application/Value (Understanding how physical activity improves the quality of life)
Each category is worth 2 points per lesson:
2 - Meeting the standard
1 - Progressing toward the standard
0 - Not Meeting the standard
Each student is allowed up to (3) excused absences; which includes appointments, music lessons, field trips, illness, etc. Any additional absences, whether excused or unexcused, MUST be remediated if students would like credit for their missed class. Please contact your teacher to make up your missed classes.
