While studying at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette I was confronted with the precarious financial situation many of my classmates faced trying to maintain scholarships, secure grants, and find a balance between part time jobs and full time school schedules. I witnessed the panic of friends when rent came due, watched as they stripped away the security nets of savings accounts, auto insurance, and play Russian roulette with their healthcare.  Most students lived with the philosophy they would "be okay if they could just graduate, and start making money." I learned the need to unshackle my people from generational debt and worked with the Alpha Education and Economic Development Foundation of Acadiana to educate the community. 

Today I have the privilege to work with people from my community and across the beautiful diverse cities of both Houston and Baton Rouge as we help families like mine address debt honestly, plan for the future, and replace generational curses with generational wealth.
