To celebrate the upcoming launch of the Artemis I Mission, the LPI is excited to present a special program about rocket science! Join us for this free, virtual presentation designed for families and children.
LPI, Coding with a Twist, and WYF are excited to bring you this special Second Saturday event both in-person & virtually from our YIIP home base, Judson Robinson, Jr. Community Center 2020 Hermann Dr. Houston, Texas 77004
You're invited to join the World Youth Foundation and the Lunar and Planetary Institute for a morning of science presentations and activities about rockets! You’ll hear from NASA experts and rocket scientists, learn about new missions to space, and create your very own rocket!
We’ll be joined by some very special guests: Patricia Moore, Tiera Fletcher, and Myron Fletcher. Patricia is a Communication and Outreach Specialist from NASA headquarters; she’ll tell us all about the Artemis Program and share the latest developments about its first mission. The Fletchers are aerospace engineers at The Boeing Company; they’ve spent years working with NASA to build the new Space Launch System (SLS), the most powerful rocket ever created!

Black holes are hard to find. They have such strong gravity that light can’t escape them, so scientists must rely on clues from their surroundings to find them.
NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket with the Orion spacecraft aboard is seen at sunrise atop a mobile launcher at Launch Complex 39B, Monday, April 4, 2022.
Forward to the Moon and on to Mars, NASA is exploring deep space like never before. Preparing to launch soon, Artemis I will be the first uncrewed flight test of the Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon. We will use what we learn on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap: sending the first astronauts to Mars.
The Lunar and Planetary Institute’s new public engagement program provides the opportunity for young learners to connect with planetary scientists from home! Virtual Exploration Experiences with Planetary Scientists (VEEPS) are family-friendly, online sessions that include a scientist’s presentation, a demonstration related to the topic, and some time for questions and discussion with the scientist.
