The WYF directors for the Fair Housing Defenders program, Ms. Sasha Marshall & Ms. Melissa Diaz want to empower you with the facts and laws established in the 1968 Fair Housing Act. Their passion fuels their mission and has shaped this month's discussion.

Sasha Marshall Smith is the Program Director for the World Youth Foundation’s Fair Housing Defenders program. She is a national public speaker and has educated over a million people about affordable home development, housing discrimination and fair housing rights. Sasha graduated with honors from Langston University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and a Master’s degree in Regional and City Planning from the University of Oklahoma. Currently, Sasha works for the City of Houston’s Planning & Development Department.
Melissa Diaz is the Program Director for the World Youth Foundation’s Fair Housing Defenders program. Melissa Diaz graduated as the valedictorian of her graduating class from Texas Southern University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Prior to joining the World Youth Foundation & LISC, she was the Lead Quality Control Analyst managing over $60 million at a for-profit financial firm. Currently, Melissa works for LISC where she manages overall operations. Her background includes finance, legal, compliance, fair housing, disaster recovery and economic development.
