Thank you for your participation in our “Little Germinator” meet-up on Saturday, June 13, 2020 . The conversation was dynamic and informative. Mrs. GERMBuster (Mrs. Jolandra Houston) provided a sensational STEM class which taught us proper procedure for hand washing and sneezing. Through song and dance we learned how to keep ourselves and our community safe. Pre-registered YIIPsters received program material which included Mrs. Houston’s beautifully written and illustrated book. Please continue to support her mission by visiting and sharing the Little Germinator website
Ryan McClellan, a 29 year old Houston native graduate from Spring High School, completed his bachelors in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University. After pledging Nu Phi in Houston, Ryan continued his education at Boston State University with a concentration in Organizational Management. Ryan McClellan works in Federal Law enforcement , but will speak candidly with YIIP as a private citizen. Ryan McClellan lives and works by his motto, "You can't lead the people if you don't love the people. You can't save the people if you don't serve. "
We curated community leaders to ignite a candid conversation with our YIIP 365 members. Ryan McClellan and Detective Cedric Mitchell. They provided REAL answers from their real life experience. Everything regarding law enforcement, our rights during a traffic stop, and questions about justice were on the table. The candor of our hosts was refreshing and well received by our YIIP365 class. We are looking forward to each of them sharing their talents by creating a video to lend their ideas, concerns, and voices to the discussion. These videos will be given by World Youth Foundation to the Obama Foundation to add our "Post Cards from the Edge" to the national conversation.
Cedric A. Mitchell is a retired Police Detective from Washington DC who began his law enforcement career in 1988 and held a distinguished career for 30 years. He served in the uniform patrol and undercover division and promoted to Detective in the Criminal Investigation Division in 1993. His advancement continued in 2007 when he was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Joint Terrorism Task Force and then joined the special detail of the Presidential 2009 Inauguration for Barack Hussein Obama II. In 2012, he retired from the department and joined the Office of the Inspector General with the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority as a senior investigator and served the agency for four years.
In 2016 he launched CTC Solutions L.L.C. a proactive vehicle designed to present a distinctive way of training and education for the Law Enforcement community while forging a new paradigm for a broken system. He too is a proud father, grandfather, former AAU basketball coach and currently a mentor with Promise Youth Development in Charlotte, North Carolina. He believes Law Enforcement is the pulse of communities and their friendship and commitment is the fabric to carry us forward.

Ms. Houston is the mother of two YIIPster age children of her own. She is also a teacher with the Charlotte, NC school system. Her experience as both a mother and teacher motivated her to find an engaging platform to educate all children to be proactive in keeping themselves safe through proper hygiene. During this time of rising numbers in COVID-19 cases we must reinforce the basics and explain the science. YIIP is so proud to partner with Mrs. GermBuster and for bringing her valuable life lessons to our children via ZOOM June 13, 2020.
