Silver seeds, often shortened just to ‘seeds’ or ‘ss’ is the primary form of currency used in Taurnar by members to purchase items offered by the group’s shop and other goodies from folks in the community!
But how do you get them?...
The best way to earn seeds is to create art and literature of your (or other members’) beblunes! Every story and drawing you create earns you a little stash of cash for you to spend in Darko’s Market to get more parts for your projects or you can spend them on things other members are creating, like commissions!
Once you're done with your creation, you may submit it to the DeviantArt group's gallery and wait for mods to add your seeds to your inventory- or submit them to the seed redeem channel in the community discord server! We encourage you to include the math for your art and literature in the description of what you make, to make things easier for mods!
The chart below will help you calculate the amount of silver seeds you earn for your work!
Base Earnings: This is the base number of seeds earned per beblune that you draw, based on the amount of the beblune that is visible.
Headshot: 400 ss
Half Body: 800 ss
Full Body: 1000 ss
Other Parts: 300 ss
Visibility Requirements:
At least the entire head and crest of a beblune must be visible in order to count as a headshot.
Half body should account for around 50% visibility; at least half of the body being shown in your drawing. Does not require the head to be visible to count!
Full body may count for a beblune that is more than 75% visible; with most, if not all of the character on the canvas. Does not require the head to be visible to count!
The Other Parts criteria may be claimed for a beblune that is only partially visible; but does not have the face/head shown (such as the legs or tail.) At least 25% of the body must be visible to count! Other Parts also applies to overly simplified/low detail background characters regardless of visibility!
*Poses that do not show parts of the body may still count for half or full body visibility if the part is still on the canvas and not being covered intentionally with other characters or objects; such as front views or hind views where some of the legs or tail may be obscurred.
Eggs may earn the "other parts" bonus but must:
Be over 50% visible and recognizable as an official egg on the Masterlist
Be drawn with either a pup or grown beblune
Comic panels are graded individually!
Collabs reward all artists who took part with full seed rewards! Each person involved in the piece must post and submit the final artwork to the deviantart group OR submit them to the seed redeem channel in the community discord server
You may post up to 5 separate drawings on one canvas and, as long as they are clearly separated, they will be individually graded. We encourage uploading your artwork separately, to make it easier to grade individually.
A headshot will be between 15- 30% of the body of a beblune! (Whole head and crest minimum)
A halfbody will be between 31-74% of the body of the beblune!
A fullbody will be 75% or more of the body of the beblune!
Color and Shading Bonuses: The amount of additional seeds you earn for coloring and shading a beblune in your artwork. This stacks for each beblune drawn in the image! Images may be greyscale so long as a beblune's markings are distinguishable!
Flat Color (simple): +400 ss
Flat Color (intermediate): +500 ss
Flat Color (complex): +600 ss
Basic Shading: +500 ss
Rendered/Polished: +800 ss
Color Requirements:
Simple flat colors account for beblune with designs that typically have one to three colors with sparse or simple markings; ie. a beblune that is mostly one color with little to no intricate markings.
Intermediate flat colors account for beblune with designs that have a moderate amount of colors and markings but are not heavily intricate or detailed. Most beblune will fall into this category!
Complex flat colors account for beblune with designs that have many colors and intricate markings; ie. A beblune that has a number of intricate markings and colors that cover a majority of, if not the entire body.
Basic Shading: Shading may be in any style (soft, cell, etc.) but must be present and easy to see throughout the entire drawing of your beblune in order to count. Very minimal shading that is hard to differentiate from linework may not get counted.
Rendered/Polished: The rendered/polished bonus may only be applied to a piece that has a clear high level of detail shading and lighting compared to your normal work! This is for artwork that is given extra effort with detailed shading and lighting, hand-painted textures, etc.
Trait and Mutation Complexity Bonus:
An additional amount of seed earnings based on the complexity of the beblune being drawn! Beblunes who earn the complexity bonus earn a x2 multiplier to their Base Earnings and Color bonuses for that beblune!
A beblune must meet one of the following requirements to earn the complexity bonus:
Headshot: The beblune has 6 or more distinct traits and/or physical mutations visible on the head and neck. Headshots automatically gain the trait complexity bonus if the beblune has multi heads (all heads must be shown!) or multiple sets of wing ears.
Half Body: The beblune has 8 or more distinct traits and/or physical mutations visible on the body. Half bodies automatically gain the trait complexity bonus if the beblune has multi heads, multiple sets of extra wings and/or multi legs (all heads/wings/legs in the visible areas, such as all of the front legs on the chest or the wings on the upper body must be shown!)
Full Body: The beblune has 10 or more distinct traits and/or physical mutations visible on the body. Full bodies automatically gain the trait complexity bonus if the beblune has multi heads, multiple sets of extra wings and/or multi legs (all heads/wings/legs must be shown!)
What is considered a distinct trait or mutation?
Distinct traits and mutations are any traits/mutations that add extra lineart to a beblune.
Absent traits and mutations (such as absent crest, absent wings, absent tail, absent parts) will not count towards the distinct trait count!
Stacked traits will only count for one distinct trait. Some examples of stacked traits would be a beblune with Single Horn, Curved Horn and Crystal Horn; a beblune with Cyclops, Glowing Eyes and Empty Eyes; a beblune with Curled Tail, Fluffy Tail and Spade Tail.
Multiple sets of traits (such as ears, horns, and tails) each count as their own distinct trait!
Multi Eyes counts for only one distinct trait, regardless of the amount of eyes.
Accessory Bonus:
An additional amount of seed earnings for drawing your beblune with props, accessories, and clothing!
Small Prop / Accessory Bonus: +200 ss
Large Prop / Clothing Bonus: +300 ss
Accessory Requirements:
Small props and accessories are additional items that are not a part of a beblune, but something they are wearing or interacting with that doesn’t cover a large portion of the body; such as a hat, a scarf, a ball, etc.
Large props and clothing items are additional items that are not a part of a beblune, but something they are wearing or interacting with that is larger and more detailed than a small item; such as a guitar, a full outfit, etc.
Small accessory
Large Accessory/Prop
Additional Characters
An additional amount of seeds may be earned for including other, non-beblune characters in your drawings! This bonus stacks for each character drawn.
Companion Bonus:
+200 ss per companion drawn, does not apply to small low detail companions such as small bugs. Companion must be over 50% visible
Wildlife Bonus:
+200 ss for headshot
+300 ss for half body
+400 ss for full body
Unofficial Beblune Bonus:
+200 ss for headshot
+400 ss for half body
+600 ss for full body
Human Character Bonus:
+400 ss for headshot
+500 ss for half body
+600 ss for full body
Additional Character Requirements:
Additional character bonuses only count for characters that are included in the image with a beblune. They will not count for images of non-beblune characters on their own.
The companion bonus counts for a beblune that has one or more detailed companions visible in the artwork with them. Stacks only once.
The wildlife bonus may count for drawings that include a Taurnar specific critter.
If a Beblune's companion is also a member of Taurnar's wildlife, they will receive the wildlife bonus. They do not earn both bonuses!
Unofficial Beblune bonus is rewarded at a set rate per unofficial Beblune included, regardless of traits/design, to encourage member interactions/connections.
Backgrounds
Extra seeds you may earn for putting your beblune in a scene!
Low-Detail Background: +1,000 ss
Medium-Detail Background: +2,500 ss
High-Detail Background: +5,000 ss
Background Requirements:
All backgrounds must be cohesive as a scene in order to count; we should be able to tell that your beblune is walking through a forest, swimming in a river, or flying through the sky!
Examples of individual scenery elements include; clouds, trees, bushes, grass, falling leaves, reflections from water on a beblune, rocks and dirt, the sun, moon, and stars, etc. Multiples of one object in a group count as one element of scenery.
A low-detail background is any background that does not meet the 3 element requirements of a medium detailed background, but is still identifiable as a scene, such as a sky with clouds. The elements of scenery do not need to be very detailed in order for this bonus to count, but should be easily identifiable.
A medium-detail background must have 3 to 4 distinct elements of scenery; with some level of detail (such as shading or texture) to most of the individual elements in order to be counted.
A high-detail background must have 5 or more elements of scenery; with a good level of detail (such as shading or texture) throughout the entire scene and on all individual elements as a whole in order to be counted
Extra seeds you may earn for animating your beblune and the scene they are in.
Minor Animation: +2,500 ss
Major Animation: +10,000 ss
Scene Animation: +20,000 ss
Animation Requirements:
Minor animations count for simple animations where only one or two parts of a beblune is animated rather than the whole character; such as making the beblune blink, bounce, or move a single (small) part of the body. This also counts for “wiggle” animations; where the character is static but the lines move.
Major animations count for animations where the entire beblune is being animated; such as a walk or run cycle, an animation of a beblune in flight, etc. This may also count for a piece where the beblune is static but the scene is animated, or an animation where a large bodypart (such as the head or wings) are animated.
Scene animations may count for an animation that includes a fully animated beblune in a scene that is also animated.
*Animatics of multiple non-moving images are graded individually as comic panels for each unique image
Major animation (head, neck, expression, ear, tail movement) - Art by Layneon
This section overrides all other point earnings for specialty drawings that earn higher rewards!
Reference Sheet: 5,000 ss
Reference Sheet Requirements:
A reference sheet must, at least, include a full body image of your beblune with all parts of the body visible (100% visibility in a pose that shows the design as a whole) and at least one of the following: Written information (name, gender, ect), design notes on important details, or a color palette in order to be counted. If the beblune's design is asymmetrical both sides must be visible.
A reference sheet that only meets the minimum requirements is not eligible for the trait complexity bonus.
Additional inclusions (such as extra headshots or other views) may be counted for their seed value in addition to the reference sheet base if they are individually drawn. These extra art pieces may earn the trait complexity bonus so long as they meet the requirements!
Flipped/rotated versions of art on a reference sheet may not be counted for additional seeds*; but outfits drawn on them may count for the Accessory bonus.
*Symmetrical, flipped drawings such as dorsal and ventral views that use the same silhouette but have unique lineart for each view may still count for additional seeds; so long as the lineart is different between the two views.
Reference sheets may only be submitted ONCE* per beblune!
*If a beblune has a reference sheet but has been sold or traded to a new owner the new owner may create a new reference sheet!
*A new reference can be made once a year if a beblune does not change ownership!
YBH (Your Beblune Here): Full calculated seed reward upon first completion, then 1/2 seed reward for each submission after!
YBHs (Your Beblune Here) with repeating usage of the same base earns FULL rewards for the first submission, then earns half seeds for each submission after! (Full reward gets calculated first, then gets halved at the end)
Subspecies/Hybrid variants of a YBH may earn full rewards for the first submission so long as they are only referenced off of the original YBH pose and are redrawn!
3D Models:
Physical and digital sculptures earn the following seeds for their initial sculpt:
Headshot: 4000 ss
Half Body: 8000 ss
Full Body: 10,000 ss
Additional renders for digital sculptures earn half of the above bonus
3D models can earn the color bonus as well as the trait complexity bonus!
The amount of silver seeds you earn based on your story’s word count!
Base Wordcount (250 words): 1000 ss
Additional 100 Words: +500 ss (stacks for every 100 words after the base 1000)
Base Literature Requirements:
Your literature should be written in story format; no script-format stories or RPs!
Literature submitted to the group for seeds should be written in English and understandable to the mods! Use of online translators is OK for non-native English writers, so long as we can still read and understand the majority of your story.
Large sections of repetitive or filler text do not count as part of your total wordcount; try to avoid using multiples of the same word in succession, or sections that are copy pasted from other parts of the story.
These are bonuses you can add to written works to earn some additional seeds!
Environmental Bonus: +1000 ss
Additional Beblune Bonus: +500 ss (stacks per character)
Additional Character Bonus: +400 ss (stacks per character)
Writing Bonus Requirements:
For the environmental bonus to be counted, your story must describe the scene that your character/s are in with at least three individual sensory descriptors (such as sight, smell, sensations, etc.) and be mentioned more than once throughout the story.
Additional beblunes may be counted for the seed bonus if they are present through the majority of the story and are described interacting with the main character/other characters and/or the scene itself.
Additional characters may be counted for the seed bonus if they are canonical to the world of taurnar (like humans or native wildlife) and are present throughout the majority of the story / interact with the cast and scene.
Now that your artwork is complete, it's time to redeem it for silver seeds! The group moderators will double check your counts to ensure everything is graded properly, but we encourage members to do their best to accurately grade their own artwork.
You can redeem your artwork for seeds by either submitting the work to the #seed-redeem channel in the community discord server, or by submitting the work to the appropriate folder in the DeviantArt group!
