Fire and EMS Training Hours

Goal

The goal is to continually monitor the impact of this value and ensure all members receive sufficient training hours and content for recertification and ISO.

Definition

Fire and EMS training is defines as a proactive activity in which fire department staff members are gaining skills, knowledge, and expertise that will enable them to mitigate a call for duty.

Significance

To ensure the fire division staff maintained proficiencies in their critical skills, the training unit staff focus on internal department-wide and company training activities. These trainings ensure that each staff member has sufficient continuing education opportunities for recertification. In 2019, the training unit identified and began providing internal training for each specialty certification (Fire, EMS, Inspector, Officer Investigator, Health & Safety, Etc.) based on the required continuing education requirements and ISO schedule. All training was scheduled via a monthly task book assignment and was required to be completed by all staff members.
