Rayhaan Saaim is a junior at Sweet Home High School in Amherst, New York. He is interested in aerospace and chemical engineering. Additionally, his favorite ice cream flavor is "Cookies and Cream", and his favorite color is blue!

Annotation of the Thermoplasma volcanium Genome from DNA Coordinates 110 to 5131 (or Locus Tags TVG_RS00005 to TVG_RS00020)

Abstract: A group of consecutive 4 genes from the microorganism Thermoplasma volcanium (TVG) were annotated by our group on the website GENI-ACT. The protein blast suggested a correlation with formate dehydrogenase subunit alpha (WP_010916259.1). The Genbank proposed gene product name for each gene was assessed in terms of the general genomic information, amino acid sequence-based similarity data, and structure-based evidence from the amino acid sequence. The Genbank proposed gene product name did not differ significantly from the proposed gene annotation for each of the genes in the group and as such, the genes appear to be correctly annotated in the database.
