Fatma Abdulrahman is a Junior at Research Laboratory High School in Buffalo, NY. Fatma was born and raised in Yemen, but fled at young age due to the onset of the war. Her family often moved following their escape, but ultimately found a home in Ankara, Turkey, where they stayed for five years. Four years ago, she moved to America. Fatma states, "I've been living in America for four years now and I'm very shocked how sophisticated the technology has been here. Living in America was not a bad thing because that’s when I wanted to achieve my dream. I had a vision, a vision that would require a lot of time to make, and to do that, I wanted to choose the right direction. I decided to go and study at a medical field and I’m trying my best to achieve my dream. "

Abstract: Two genes with locus tags HP0325 and HP0352 from the bacteria Helicobacter pylori 26695 were annotated using the collaborative genome annotation website GENI-ACT. H.pylori 26695 is a gram negative motile bacteria that enters humans via the digestive tract and can cause ulcers. The Genbank proposed gene product name for each gene was assessed in terms of the general genomic information, amino acid sequence-based similarity data, and structure-based evidence from the amino acid sequence. Cellular localization data was also used to determine proper annotation. The Genbank proposed gene product name did not differ significantly from the proposed gene annotation for each of the genes in the group and as such, the genes appear to be correctly annotated by the database. These genes play a roll in the flagellar motor protein complex.
