  Today I will be talking about axolotls. I will discuss what axolotls are, their habitat in Mexico, and last but not least, their lifestyle. These creatures are truly amazing.

  What are axolotls? Axolotls are aquatic salamanders. Salamanders are amphibians sharing characteristics with lizards and frogs. They normally have short bodies measuring up to 10 - 15 centimetres. These creatures have external gills. They live in water, but they can breathe air. Also, they lay up to 1000 eggs per clutch. There are 20-30 axolotl breeds.

  As to their habitats, axolotls live in Mexico, in the Mexican Central Valley. The endangerment of axolotls is because of habitat loss due to urbanization. Lake Xochimilco, their main home, is not a large body of water. Also axolotl's inhabited Lake Chalco, but now this lake has been drained, further limiting their natural habitat.

  The axolotl's lifestyle is calm nature and surrealism. They hide among plants and rocks, searching for food like worms and small fish.  Axolotls in the wild can live 5 to 6 years. Under care by someone they live 10 to 15 years.

  Axolotls are amazing creatures that can breathe air. They live in a place called Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. This lake is full of cool, clear water, which axolotls love because it helps them breathe. As you can see, these fascinating creatures are incredible.
