Notes on My Collage
My image features the following artists: Linda Montano, Joan Jonas, Yoko Ono, Mary Reid Kelley, Luzene Hill, Antonia Wright. All of these artists inspire me greatly. The three images top to bottom on the far left are of my own work. I've moved away from a tangible object making practice, and so I am curious of what I will discover in this class, about both myself and a practice that is foreign to me. I am proud to have been born and raised in Minnesota, and am deeply troubled by the injustices occurring back home.
Artist Bio
Megan Keen is a multimedia artist whose practice blends visual art and performance to explore the body as both a site of healing and a vessel for personal and collective reflection. Rooted in her background in dance and visual art, her work offers space to process, release, and reconnect. She is drawn to the body’s ability to carry memory and emotion, and to the ways shared experiences connect us. Through performance and movement, Megan investigates these layers while experimenting with methods of documenting ephemerality.
Growing up in the Midwest and training at the Performing Institute of Minnesota, Megan began developing her creative voice within both gallery and performance settings. Now a BFA student in Expanded Arts at Arizona State University, she continues to explore how traditional and experimental methods can intersect. Whether through photography, film, or live performance, her work aims to resonate emotionally while challenging conventional boundaries between disciplines.
